The Quran has 114 surahs (chapters). The first is Al-Fatihah, the longest is Al-Baqarah with 286 verses, and the shortest is Al-Kawthar with three.

How many verses does the Quran have?

In the widely used Hafs counting the Quran has 6,236 verses (ayat), divided into 30 juz' so it can be read across a month.

Over how long was the Quran revealed?

About 23 years, beginning in the Cave of Hira when the Prophet ﷺ was around forty and continuing until near the end of his life.

Which surah does not begin with Bismillah?

Surah At-Tawbah is the only surah that does not open with the Basmala.

Which caliph standardised the Quran?

Caliph Uthman ibn Affan (RA) had a standard copy prepared and sent to the main centres of the Muslim world, which is why the text is uniform today.

Does this quiz test Quran memorisation or recitation?

No. It tests knowledge about the Quran: its surahs, structure and revelation. For memorisation and tajweed you need a qualified teacher.
